We are still here...

It's been two months since my last blog post, and though I haven't been concentrating my efforts primarily on Jennifer Marie Designs I am still here. My bench is covered with work, only not that which is typically found on a jeweler's bench. Yes, my hammer, pliers, and torch are sitting there quietly, but if they could they would be screaming,
"HELP!
We are being overtaken by wedding invitations, contracts, and receipts.
Please, come save us!"
I left off in our wedding journey having visited and booked our venue and caterer, and with two months left we are pretty well set for the big day. I am now focusing on all the little details. I recently met with Harvey from the Altamont Manor to go over ideas we have planned for the reception. From the number of tables needed to croquet in the garden, Harvey was able to help me see a bit more clearly how the Manor's true charm will enchant our guests and provide for a relaxed setting for family and friends to gather.

On Wednesday I met with Deb from Elegant Touch, not only to finalize our menu, but to have her walk me through the reception from hors d'oeuvres to desert, with everything in between. We talked about table dressings and centerpieces that will highlight the simplicity of the bride and groom all the while accentuating the vintage setting of the manor. Wedding invitations have gone out and RSVP's have begun to trickle in. Before I know it, the day will be here and these next two months will be a blur.

Amidst the wedding plans spring has sprung and summer seems to be knocking down the door, and this brings on new responsibilities and the need to carefully plan my weeks and manage my time.
I find myself jumping from task to task and switching hats daily between painter, home school teacher, homemaker, gardener, wedding planner, and jewelry designer. Unfortunately, momentary priorities push jewelry design far into the background, and while this may be true in deed it is far from so in thought. Daily I am observing and designing in my head, or hatching plans and ideas waiting until there is a break in this busy routine. I miss the physical work of manipulating metal and glass, all the while being refreshed by the absence of it. I am looking forward toward a spectacular return this fall after the dust has settled a bit and I have mentally grasped that my first child, born seemingly not that long ago, is married and beginning a new chapter in her life, perpetuating a new one in mine as well.
Big changes are coming.
What an exciting time!
Though I may not be in design mode,
the store is still open.
Be sure to take a gander and treat yourself to a new treasure to wear this summer!
