Fire It Up

Taylor is singing “Landslide”, Chris is plucking away at his Taylor guitar, and I'm set up on my comfy bed with a laptop on my lap, trying to focus as the sunsets over the mountain and dusk settles into our little cul de sac. Today was spent weeding my herb garden and dreaming of what veggies I might plant next month, all the while thinking of jewelry design. I found myself looking at the textures in my garden. Maybe you get what I'm talking about and can imagine with me the inspiration I found from the pebble walkway to the rough wood boxes, the dead branches and leaves I cleared away to the new leaves springing up on the hyssop and lavender bushes. Now I need to find a way to translate that inspiration into stylish pieces you can't wait to get your hands on and wear to your next festival, garden party or backyard barbecue. The season is right around the corner and there is no time to waste!
Last week I began working on a new design for you all, that I hope you will fall in love with. I was in the studio shaping, firing, and polishing a textured pendant, and it felt great to create again. I thought you might enjoy a short little video which shows a bit of the behind the scenes process that goes into creating this design.
This is the starting point. When I was designing this pendant I was thinking of you and wanted to make a piece that you could wear all of the time. It is simple yet elegant. You can wear it while you walk and shop Main Street, to a concert, out to dinner, hiking with the kids, or hanging around with friends and family at home. I figure a few tweaks, a pair of earrings, a ring, and maybe a bracelet and we'll be good to add this to the shop!
